Nathaniel Reed serves as Director of Cutting-Edge Technology Projects at Shinkin Gather InfoTech Inc. He earned his Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by dual Master’s degrees after completing MIT’s synchronized program in Aerospace Engineering and Business Analysis Management. His core research areas include commercialization valuation of hard-core frontier technologies and risk measurement for emerging industrial investments.
From 2013 to 2016, he worked as Industrial Commercialization Assessment Specialist at a NASA-affiliated commercial aerospace technology transformation research institution. His responsibilities covered commercial potential measurement and market launch roadmap planning for laboratory-developed aerospace technologies. He completed commercialization assessment reports for 42 aerospace innovations including new aerospace materials, low-orbit satellite networking and on-orbit servicing technologies, screening out 11 cutting-edge technical solutions with scalable market growth potential.
He officially joined Shinkin Gather InfoTech Inc. in 2018, taking full charge of discovery of the firm’s next-generation emerging tracks, incubation of early-stage innovative projects and research into investment value of cutting-edge technologies. Upon joining, he independently built the "Three-Dimensional Frontier Technology Evaluation System", a quantitative scoring and valuation model operating across three dimensions: technology maturity, global commercialization potential and strategic synergy with the firm’s existing businesses. This model resolves the longstanding industry pain point of non-standard valuation and non-quantifiable risks for frontier technologies, and has been deployed by the firm for review of all early-stage innovative projects.
In 2020, he led the long-term layout of the commercial aerospace track, continuously tracking three sub-sectors: low-cost satellite networking, space new materials and on-orbit space maintenance. He established joint technical verification channels with global aerospace research institutes and regularly releases global aerospace industry research reports to provide target screening benchmarks for the investment team. Concurrently, he monitors three frontier technology verticals: quantum computing, neuromorphic computing and computational biology, collaborating with global laboratories on early-stage commercialization testing to identify startups with long-term investment value.
On a day-to-day basis, he updates a global frontier technology track directory monthly and circulates it to both investment and technical departments. Every quarter, he convenes dedicated review sessions for frontier technologies to grade and prioritize all reserve innovative projects. He maintains cooperative project delivery channels with polytechnic universities across North America and South Korea, continuously sourcing investment targets for the firm’s long-term industrial expansion strategy.
