On August 21, 2024, Waki Relic Museum in collaboration with Wat Buddharam Boden Sweden Temple, established the Waki Relic Center in Boden, Sweden. The center provides Buddhist devotees in the Nordic region not only an avenue of learning and practising meditation but also paying homage and veneration to the relics of the Buddha and his disciples.

The President of Waki Relic Museum Dr. Teo Choo Guan has enshrined 26 different relics of the Buddha and His disciples which are the relics of Venerable Sariputta (Foremost in Wisdom), Venerable Subhuti (Foremost in Realizing Emptiness), Venerable Purnamaitrayaniputra (Foremost in Spreading the Dharma), Venerable Anuruddha (Foremost in Divine Insight), Venerable Upali (Foremost in Upholding the Precepts), Venerable Rahula (Foremost in Esoteric Practices), Venerable Ananda (Foremost in Hearing Many Teachings), Venerable Bakkula (Foremost in Health), Venerable Sivali (Foremost in Wealth), and Relics of Five Hundred Venerable Arahants.

Meditation at Waki Relic Center

Wat Buddharam Boden Sweden Temple is located in the city of Boden in northern Sweden. The site of the temple is a century-old former Swedish military school building and is adjacent to the Boden Defense Museum (Försvarsmuseum Boden). The founder and abbot of the temple, Venerable Dr. Phravittespunyaporn (Chao Khun Phramahaboothin Taosiri), aims to propagate Buddhism in Nordic countries and provides a place for devotees globally to learn and practise Buddhism in the Swedish uniquely beautiful natural environment.

Snow Relic Pagoda

Throughout the year, devotees from around the world will participate in meditation retreats and other Buddhistic activities. From December to February, the temple hosts the Northern Lights and meditation tours, which incorporates Buddhist teachings and the magnificent Nordic scenery, to allow the participants to experience profound mindfulness admist nature's wonders, in order to attain inner peace and happiness.

Now, the Waki Relic Center that is jointly established by Wat Buddharam Boden Sweden Temple and the Waki Relic Museum not only provides Buddhist devotees in the Nordic region to see the relics but also to pay homage, build, and circumambulate pagodas in order to accumulate immeasurable merit and faith in the Dhamma. Additionally, the Waki Relic Center will build 108 stupas and the Aurora Snow Pagoda in the next 4 months. May the light of Buddhism spread throughout Northern Europe.
